Slaves!
June 15, 2007
The next day me and 400 of the kings best men, went over to the camp of the natives, Kumari asked…
“What the heck is going on!?” I replied back to him,
“Kumari my dear old friend… youve been getting on my nerves these past couple days…” he said back to me…
“You cannot make me into your slave! I will call all of my men from around the continent that were here for that war he had! You and your so called thousands of men could not even hurt those guys!”
“Mabe we couldnt hurt them… but we can hurt you! You will become all of our slaves… although there are 400 of my men and 46 of your men! But you Kumari…”
There was a very long pause when I had said that,
“Me what Vasco?” I laughed a very evil laugh…
“You will be my slave…”
Kumari and his friends did all they could, offered all they could offer, but all of my men just said,
“No.”
After about 1 whole hour of begging us not to take them as slaves, they just gave up… they became our slaves, Kumari of course… was mine.
I hope you realise that this means war

Today I woke up early to go and see Vasco. He was not where he usually was staying for the nights. I stared to look for him and his children, but I couldn’t find any of them right away. So I went to the place where he was cutting wood the day I met him, and there he was, cutting the village’s wood and keeping it for himself.
I yelled, “What do you think you are doing? That is the villages wood,” Vasco told me it was all of our wood, I assume he was talking about him and his family.
I started to get irritated and declared war on him, only because he was all alone. He agreed, but when he showed up, he was definitely not alone. At first he out numbered up but not by much, but when we got into the war there was thousands of men by his side. I don’t know they did it, but the men on my side fought for there lives and only two of them had it taken from them.
Vasco raised a white piece of fabric he called a flag, and the war was over. We shook hands and were friends again.
Soon to be slaves…

Kumari and I were not having problems for a very long time until he started doing things that were getting on my nerves.
I think that tommorow me and the kings men will go there and make them slaves!
My new friend Vasco

Today the people of the village were having trouble with houses, there was a giant wind which made all of our houses fall to the ground.
Me and one other person named Manmohan were sent to go out in the forest and get wood and supplies for building new houses. Manmohan and I were at in the forest for no more then 5 minutes when he ran back to the village beacause he heard a noise. I went in farther to see what was making the noises. It was a man, he was with two children and it looked like they were building small houses.
Seeing a grown man and two children who didn’t look any older than ten years build small houses got me thinking, if these three people can build small houses in two or three hours, imagine what they and the whole tribe could accomplish when working together.
I noticed that the man was taking very good care of the children, so he probably would not want anything to happen to them. So I waited until they started to leave and one of the children walked behind the man. When they left I quickly snuck up behind them, snatched one of the boys, and ran for my life back to the village hoping that the man would follow me.
My plan worked. The man started to run after me with his other little boy in his arm. I managed to make it to the village without getting caught. When the man finaly caught up to me, he drew his sword and held it to my throught. I creamed “please stop!, you may have your child back but just here me out”. I have taken your child so I could lure you to my village and ask you a favor”. He took his boy from me and asked what the favor was. I told him we needed him to help us build houses. He didn’t look like ho wanted to but he still agreed to do it.
I wonder why he said he would help us without questioning me about getting paid or anything like that. Oh well at least we’re getting our homes back.
Before the war.

When I had moved here, we passed by the natives… I did not know Kumari yet but it was shortly after when we had met… we became pretty good friends.
One really hot day, I was out in my field farming, when my wife yelled to me,
“Vasco, can you go and get some wood for the fire place, please?… We are running a little bit low.”
As I was cutting wood Kumari came up to me, this is when he freaked out on me for cutting the wood that he thought was his.
I will be writing in here again shortly.
The war against Kumari.
June 13, 2007
Today, I was out in the woods cutting trees down for my fire, when Kumari came and started to complain that the wood was his, I just kept on telling him that it was all of our wood… he did not agree one little bit, so he said…
“I declare a war upon you and your armies, we will attack exactly when the sun goes down.”
“We will be ready for you and the 46 men you have!” He turned around and walked away.
So what I did was I asked the king if I could have some of his men… he just said,
“No.” so I went to the bar and asked anyone if they wanted to come and help-out with the war against those natives, all of them started yelling saying,
“YES!” I gathered all the men up and sat in my field waiting for the natives.
We saw them about 1 hour later, and we all sat there in neat rows… there was about 150 men on my side, on there side there was almost too many to count, it looked like about 1500 men! I said to my men,
“You all know you are going to die! But… what I want you to do is give them the best you got!” they all started cheering, we started to run, but then thousands of men on horses rumbled right by us, before we even got to the natives, they were already swinging sword slicing at people… after about 10 minutes of war a white flag blasted up in the air…it was by our men! I yelled…
“What is going on here” as the weapons had stopped clashing together on shields and bright silver plate armour…
“They are too strong!” yelled back one of my men.
The war had stopped and many were left lying in my field.
Kumari and me had shook hands after everyone had left, either to go home or go to the bar, or go back to the kings castle.
That night my family and I sat by the fireplace once again, just like we do every night.I didn’t eat supper that night.
After everyone was done supper I went to bed… my family stayed up and sat by the fire for a little bit longer.
I’ll be writing in here again tomorrow night, See you later.
Strange Ships
June 13, 2007
Ealry this morning, five people saw 2 ships sailing towards the village. Many people were worried, some were excited, and some did not no what was going on at all. I was one of the people that were excited.
I thought the ships would be here today but since I only heard about it and never saw it, I was olny assuming. One of the people in the village said by the looks of where it is now, it should be here in about a day and a half.
We were not sure what to do about strange ships that we have never seen in our lifes coming to or little village. We did not know if the people in the ships wanted to be friends with us or kill us, I guess only time will tell.

The Meet with Kumari…
June 13, 2007
On July 26, 1496 me and my youngest son Paulo da Gama were building him and his friend Pablo est Presto a little fort out in the woods, when Paulo heard something a little ways north.
We started to walk along the trail that Pablo had found. We saw something run right by us along the little hill of the right side of the trail, we started to run after it… when I looked back Pablo was gone!
After that I picked up my son and started to run a little bit faster, then I saw something about 27 feet in front of me, it was a native, he had Pablo in his arms… I ran as fast as I could and caught up to them, I said to the native,
”What is your name? And what business do you have in kidnapping my sons best friend?” The native replied back…
“My name is Kumari, we are having a little bit of trouble back in my village, I took your son so you would chase me to my village, and then once you got there you would be able to help me.” although he was not my son and I really did not like to help people with villages, marriages, etc. I went to take a look at it, the only things i had to help them with is homes… I just had to draw them plans for them.
When we were leaving my son was playing with Abooksigun, (meant bonfire in cree), Abooksigun was Kumari’s son.
After we got home we sat down and had supper, after that we sat around the fireplace, and then we all went to bed.
I’ll be writing in here again tomorrow, See you then!
Greetings from India
June 12, 2007
Hello, my name is Kumari . I was born in the year 1476. I have 3 sons and 4 Daughters, all of which have different mothers. My oldest son, Abookasigun, often helps me gather food and wood for fires, while my younger children play with one another for almost the entire day. I do not have a wife but I am looking for one, so if any women are reading this and are interested, you know where to find me.
There are many animals where I live, some try to take my kids and swallow them whole, I’m not sure what these animals are called but they are very long creatures with fangs that look like they could peirce the skin of an elephant. Most animals here do not eat man, instead they eat plants or other animals.
Me and my children live in a place we call Intalunib. Intalunib is the name of our village. 46 other people live in the village with us and on some days we will all sing and dance around a fire while the younger children play the drums or any other thing they can make a beat with.
That is all I have to say,I hope to hear from somebody soon!
Legacy

My wife, Catarina de Ataide and I, had six sons and we only had one daughter, there names were: Francisco da Gama, Estevão da Gama, Paulo da Gama, Cristovão da Gama, Pedro da Silva da Gama, Álvaro de Ataíde, Isabel de Ataíde da Gama.
I was responsible for Portugal’s success as an early colonizing power, I was the one that put Portugal in the Indian Ocean channel of trade.
There were large concerns from Luis Vaz de Camoes about my voyages.
After my voyages, the crown of Portugal realized that putting their outposts on the coast of Africa would make their trade route better.
